Implant Crowns and Screw-Retained Implant-Supported Teeth

The success of implant treatment is not solely determined by the placement of the implant in the bone. Proper planning of the crown placed on the implant is crucial for aesthetics, chewing function, cleanliness, and long-term care.

At Sone Oral and Dental Health Clinic, implant-supported prostheses are planned individually for each patient, taking into account their oral structure, implant location, gum health, and the characteristics of the prosthesis to be applied.

What are Implant Crowns?

Implant-supported crowns are fixed dental restorations placed on implants in the jawbone. For single tooth loss, a crown can be placed on a single implant, while for multiple missing teeth, implant-supported bridges can be used.

In cases of complete edentulism, implant-supported fixed prostheses can be planned using an appropriate number of implants.

What is a screw-retained implant crown?

Implant-supported fixed prostheses can primarily be applied using screw or cemented systems.

In screw-based systems, the prosthesis is fixed onto the implant or abutment using a special screw. After the procedure is complete, the screw entry site on the prosthesis is covered with appropriate restorative materials.

At our clinic, we prefer screw-retained implant-supported restorations when the implant placement and prosthetic planning are suitable.

One of the most important advantages of this is that, if needed, the prosthesis can be removed and reinserted by the dentist without damaging the tooth.

Why do we prefer screw-type systems?

In cemented implant-supported crowns, dental cement is used to fix the prosthesis. If excess cement remaining under the gum line is not completely removed, there is a risk of inflammation developing in the tissues surrounding the implant.

In screw-retained restorations, cement is not needed to fix the prosthesis. This eliminates the risk of complications associated with cement residue.

Furthermore, the fact that screw-retained prostheses can be removed when necessary can facilitate the inspection of implants, abutments, and surrounding tissues. The ability to access and repair the existing prosthesis when maintenance or repair is required is also a significant advantage.

However, no single system is right for every patient and every implant. The appropriate option, whether screw-retained or cemented restoration, is determined by evaluating the implant's angle, location, aesthetic expectations, and the structure of the prosthesis to be used.

Multi-Unit Abutment Systems

In cases where fixed prostheses are to be placed on multiple implants, Multi-Unit abutment systems can be used to manage differences in implant position and angle.

Multi-unit abutments are connecting pieces that allow for screw-fastening of prostheses, especially in multi-unit and full-jaw implant-supported fixed prostheses.

In suitable cases, we plan implant-supported fixed prostheses with screws using Multi-Unit abutments. This allows the prosthesis to be removed, inspected, cleaned, maintained, and reinserted by the dentist when necessary.

Zirconium Prosthesis on Titanium Bar

Different materials can be used for restorations on implants, depending on aesthetic expectations and oral conditions. Implant-supported zirconium restorations are a frequently used option due to their natural tooth-like appearance and mechanical properties.

Especially in the front teeth, it is important to create a personalized design by considering tooth color, shape, and harmony with the gums together.

In full jaw or large implant-supported fixed dentures, not only the external appearance of the prosthesis but also the supporting infrastructure used beneath the prosthesis is important.

In our clinic, we apply zirconium implant-supported prostheses on titanium bars in suitable cases. In this system, the titanium substructure connected to the implants forms the load-bearing part of the prosthesis, while the zirconium superstructure ensures an aesthetically pleasing tooth appearance.

Titanium bars are used to create a rigid and durable substructure between implants. They are particularly helpful in large restorations supported by multiple implants, assisting in the proper distribution of forces between the prosthesis and the implants.

Zirconium superstructures allow for an aesthetic result that closely resembles the appearance of natural teeth. Thus, the mechanical support of the titanium substructure and the aesthetic properties of zirconium can be combined within the same prosthesis.

It is not necessary to use titanium bars in every patient. The infrastructure to be used is determined according to the number and location of implants, the distance between the jaws, the occlusal relationships, and the design of the planned prosthesis.

Frequently Asked Questions About Implant-Supported Crowns

Her kırık protezin tamamen yenilenmesi gerekmez.

Implant-Supported Veneers in Avcılar

At Sone Oral and Dental Health Clinic, implant-supported crowns, implant-supported zirconium crowns, screw-retained implant-supported prostheses, Multi-Unit abutments, and in suitable cases, titanium bar-supported zirconium prostheses are planned after evaluating the patient's existing implants, bone, and gum condition.

In patients who have previously undergone implant treatment but have not yet had crowns placed, suitable implant-supported prosthesis options can be determined by evaluating the implant system and the current condition of the implants.
